OUR TERRITORY: BARONIA, LODE' AND MONTE ALBO


 

Baronia: a place where nature has been more than generous, An unexplored territory, where water and land blend to form spectacular scenery set in a world rich with art, history and culture turning a simple vacation into an unforgettable experience. While discovering the endless surrounding scenery you will run into kilometres of the finest sand and the crystal clear waters of La Caletta, Santa Lucia and Bérchidda along with the breathtaking beauty of Monte AlboIt’s only a short hop from the sea to the mountain.

Just a few minutes away is Mont’Albo: an impressive 20 km calcareous dolomitic mountain range, which is an incredible heritage of nature, scenery and biodiversity. Its flora and fauna are extraordinary. Rich with local varieties it is an authentic paradise for nature lovers and excursionists. It has a natural geographic protection, and is recognized as Site of Interest (Sic) by the European Union. Its peaks reveals an unexpected and almost incredible beauty. Its geologic history goes back, according to experts, to about 240 million years. Its highest peaks, Punta Catirina and Punta Turuddò, both reach 1,127 meters.

he calcareous rock of the Montalbo varies from rocky walls, overhanging rocks, steep walls and caves while the vegetation is rich especially with holm oak. The countryside around the Lodè area is none the lesser; its paths are filled with evident traces of its archaic and farming civilization. It is almost an open air museum of he former life and cultures which through the centuries have enriched the history of this land: pennetos (o pinnettos) – ancient shelters for shepherds -, cuiles anticos, nuraghi e domus de janas.

Amidst all this natural beauty stands Lodè: a tiny village nestled on a hill on the northern side of Monte Calvario, surrounded by a wild and uncontaminated countryside. Nowadays the population has dropped to about 2,150 inhabitants with a territory of 120 km2, sprinkled with hills and valleys and a boasts a part of the Montalbo. The warm hospitality is typical of a world which holds on fast to its past and the precious testimony of its culture The historic centre is quite characteristic and takes you back in time.
At 700 meters above sea level and just a few kilometers from Lodè, at the foot of Montalbo is Sant’Anna: a spectacular tourist resort where the soundtrack is that of tweeting birds and the scenery is simply images of overwhelming beauty: the plains of Baronia, the oriental coast, the mountains of Goceano and Gennargentu. All of this is Lodè, a land with a human pace, a land yet to be discovered, still living its traditions, immerged in the extraordinary beauty of its fauna and flora. A land where visitors will not easily forget the breathtaking scenery, the sensations and scents of a truly different vacation (and much more) centered on well-being and total relaxation.
